Introducing | Modern Faces

The day was a touch gloomy, clouds all over the place and then when the first couple of bars at the start of their set which stopped a few people in their tracks whilst wading through the potentially muddy surroundings. Immediately, they managed to captivate the audience.

Before we continue, press play on the YouTube video below of the @ModernFaces performing an excellent cover of @CeeLoGreen‘s ‘Bright Lights, Bigger City’ and come back here and we’ll read on.

I spotted these guys at the Bank Holiday weekend on the Main Stage at the Strawberry Fields Festival. The day was a touch gloomy, clouds all over the place and then when the first couple of bars at the start of their set which stopped a few people in their tracks whilst wading through the potentially muddy surroundings. Immediately, they managed to captivate the audience.

Their sound is similar to that of three of the biggest indie-rock or Britpop bands the UK have produced over the last generation whilst still managing to be unique. Like Oasis without the vocal whining. Like Kasabian but without the psychedelic feel. Like The Stone Roses but rockier. More so like Ian Brown but if he was with Noel Gallagher.

@ModernFaces frontman Lee Montgomery told me that the next mission is the debut album. He also said to The Sun newspaper:

“I think we all want to make that great debut album, one that sits in everyone’s top 50 greatest albums list forever … that’s the big ambition.”

After also telling me that their main goal is to be “The biggest band in the world”, I find it quite a tall order but they are very much destined for big things.

After having a Summer touring supporting Kasabian one minute and then The Charlatans the next, connections have been established and now all that there is left is the small matter of being signed when the initial album has been finalised.

With many British bands having a fan base who are appreciative of the likes of Mona, Kings Of Leon and Taking Back Sunday, they have the ability and the talent to be part of that clique.

Below are a few tracks labelled up as demo’s but to me they are actually credible contenders for single releases. I for one am seriously excited about what’s coming.

I introduce to you, Modern Faces.
