Wounded Rhymes by Lykke Li | Album Review

Angels are in fact, a myth. Not real. Fiction. Made up. Or are angels in fact what we depict to be someone who is or appears to be a divine messenger or a darling beauty? If that is the case, then this is in fact an angel. With a sweet voice of appearing of naive innocence, Lykke Li has the look of an celestial being and a sound to match.

The latest release Wounded Rhymes is very much an angelic dream throughout. Similarly sounding to Nelly Furtado and with a slight nasal slur causing a dreamy, tired, drunken wave of vocals this lady has a sauciness and an alluring, captivating drum beat to her music. Big banging drums like a jungle tribe. The main bass to her music comes from the drums. The twinkling of the artificial ivories on the keyboards bring the body-swaying rhythm as my shoulders helplessly waver from side to side whilst listening to the likes of Rich Kid Blues.

Her voice continues to be serene and delicate on Sadness Is A Blessing – video below – which is the latest single from her album and with recent acoustic performances as she has with MTV Unplugged then this is a woman who will cross the generation divide and appeal to a great many as does the wondrous Adele. Li’s releases are already spanning the radio waves from her home country of Sweden to Seattle with her emotional and uplifting alternative indie vibe.

For those with delicate hearts and mature minds then this is the musical lady that you need in your life.

Absolutely heavenly.

Wounded Rhymes by Lykke Li is out now released by Atlantic records.
