The Death Of You And Me by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds | Single Review | Official Music Video

The ‘High Flying Birds’ are not 6 air-hostesses, they are all quality musicians in their own right who, in a way, simply asked to be in Noel’s band. The ‘Birds include Mike Roe who played keyboards on the ‘Be Here Now’ tour for Oasis, Russell Pritchard from The Zutons and even a Liverpudlian guitarist named Macca

I would love to believe that a great amount of people are almost ecstatic about the return of Noel Gallagher. After doing a few personal bits and bobs for himself and for charity, here we have his first single from his debut solo album which will be self-titled, ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’.

The ‘High Flying Birds’ are not 6 air-hostesses, they are all quality musicians in their own right who, in a way, simply asked to be in Noel’s band. The ‘Birds include Mike Roe who played keyboards on the ‘Be Here Now’ tour for Oasis, Russell Pritchard from The Zutons and even a Liverpudlian guitarist named Macca.

On this romantic record the story is a tale of a man who suggests to his love about running away together being free from the hardships and worries of mundane life for something more exciting. ‘The Death Of You And Me’ is typical solo Noel. When listening to many previous band tracks where he does the acoustic work and singing. This is signature work and I for one prefer Noel on the microphone. I always have. With the exclusion of a guitar solo and replaced with soulful trumpets along with a subtle saxophones and plenty of crash cymbals, the song is warm, uplifting and jazzy without the dazzle.

I like Noel’s work and I think that he will be liked stateside as well because of his sound. With it being slightly stronger than artists like William Fitzsimmons, Iron & Wine and Bon Iver who seem to have a natural beauty in their music, I believe that the Inspiral Carpets tea-boy can definitely make it there. And I certainly hope that he does.

‘The Death Of You And Me’ by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is out on August 21st 2011 released on Noel’s own label, Sour Mash Records. The massively anticipated album is released on October 17th 2011.
