Ritual by White Lies | Album Review

In the Summer of 2009 for Me, the White Lies were indeed a tremendous, rapturous sound with passion, misery and with some great hits.
In the week we will see their return with Ritual, their second album following the impressive To Lose A Life – the first British album of 2009 to hit the number one spot – which sold masses. The festival circuit they went on certainly created a great deal of awareness for them but the continuing airplay they received definitely helped the inevitable rise of their success.
According to the White Lies the new record is “a lot more morbid and depressing than the first one”. However, rather than that putting anyone off, the first album was honest, powerful and heartfelt so with the confidence that has grown within them, the backing of the studio for them to be more creative, I’d expect a more mature sound with bigger chorus’ and a larger sound. The album is produced by Alan Moulder who has tweaked the bleeps of Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails so of course, a sterling record is en route.
But one thing I definitely must say. The young, boy who appears in their music video – below – to the single Bigger Than Us is an absolute star or at least going to be for sure. An excellent video and incredible performance.
