Passive Me, Aggressive You by The Naked And Famous | Album Review

This is MGMT crossed with The xx with essences of LCD Soundsystem. It’s glorious indie-pop with a very full and well structured sound. Every song is quite individual. Sweet and delicate yet powerful and poetically romantic.
Whilst the rest of the world is listening to this band, we here in the UK have only just managed to get it. I was introduced to The Naked And Famous by my mate, Mike. He knows my random, varied style and suggested I check out a video of them. Four bars into the track Punching In A Dream my initial thought was thinking that we had a return to form by MGMT. But then I noticed a subtle difference. This was better.
Lyrically it’s rather simple as on the track No Way with vocals throughout the album Passive Me, Aggressive mainly come from the lady of the bunch, Alisa Xayalith. The rest of the band are Aaron Short, David Beadle, Jesse Wood and Thom Powers. All together they are a band with great energy, soul, passion and all things positive on a day full of rain. From New Zealand they have certainly made a good impression on this side of the planet with a sound that would be adored and probably already is in New York City.
Their material is all a delight with their inspirative, wholesome semblance. Even on tracks when you think that they won’t be, they always are.
Passive Me, Aggressive You by The Naked And Famous is out now released by Fiction Records.
