Iron by Woodkid | EP Review | Official Music Video

Iron by Woodkid | thetruejoe90.com

Heading along the same lines as The Shoes with their chilled out, warming and heartfelt lyrical electronica. We have a man who is following a similar path who goes by the name of Woodkid. Electro-acoustic I’d say.

There isn’t much information about on this Damien Rice-esque vocalist who takes more than a guitar to his voice. His first EP – Iron – is out next week and this will be his first single release.

I have to assume that the label must be seriously backing him due to the level of work incorporated into the music video below. I believe that Yoann “Woodkid” Lemoine directed it himself as he is a highly regarded director as well as a tour manager. The video quality is amazing so big things must be expected from this multi-talented artist.

The music sounds terrific with clean and crisp production with a big orchestral feel that wouldn’t go out of place on a major movie soundtrack. I find it similar to Boy With A Coin by Iron & Wine. That I feel is a compliment of the highest level.

Iron EP by Woodkid is out on March 28th 2011 worldwide released by Green United Music.

UPDATE: This is also the track played to the advert of the new Assassins Creed: Revelations.

I look at that waveform and I see no highs and lows; it’s a rectangle. Damn the loudness wars to the depths of hell.
