If I Had A Heart by Fever Ray | Single Review

Every now and then you hear one of those records that pauses time right where you stand, sit or lounge. This time for me it came from the television whilst watching one of the planets most gripping dramas. This song added further intensity to an already seriously intense programme.
It has happened again. Bang! Stopped in my tracks because of a song. A haunting song. A sinister, creepy, spooky song that would have been more appropriate if I had wrote about it earlier in the week. It would have been more appropriate to have written about it over three years ago when it first released. But I have found it now and I am hooked thanks the globally renowned television series ‘Breaking Bad’.
After watching a particular scene in one of the episodes of this incredibly brutal drama. The scene was of the main supporting actor @aaronpaul_8 in character as the crystal meth addict Jesse Pinkman who has had is home turned into a 24/7 open house crack den. Unfortunately for him, he was not enjoying it at all.
The track is by female Swedish electronica artist @feverray who’s self-titled debut album from whence this came has done incredibly well across most continents along with millions of YouTube hits due to slightly zany and theatrical music videos.
This track though combines sadness with uplifting positivity. Haunting and scary but warm and comforting. The entire track is an emotional definition of ‘Oxymoron’ – which I tend to use quite a lot in my writing but this really does draw me into a bubble and shuts the world off around me.
This lady truly possesses a magical talent with her ambient music. It sounds like Enya stuck in a ketamine hole or Portishead on the brink of mental collapse after severe depression. I don’t mean to jest but it is moody, dark and thoroughly soul provoking.
‘If I Had A Heart’ by Fever Ray comes from the self-titled album ‘Fever Ray’ which is out everywhere now released by Rabid Records.
