Blow by Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross | EP Review

Blow EP by Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross | thetruejoe90.com

I seem to be bumping a lot of electro-acoustic work. The perfect stuff for hangovers and comedowns on a Sunday afternoon from the mayhem of the night and early morning just passed before. My darling lady and partner agrees totally being as she has just returned from a ravers reunion with her old school mates. The ‘Blow EP’ by Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross is perfect for this afternoon and any.

The dreamy, electronic flow that this debut EP emits is captivating to say the least. I will warn you that this musical ensemble of rustic drums, piano trickles and fairy-tale vocals will cause severe sedation or stimulation depending on your character. It is very therapeutic. To be genuinely honest, I am finding this very difficult to write about because my mind is continually wondering elsewhere. The title track Blow has that effect.

An early morning sunrise is the picture in my mind by way of the track Lamont. Animals yawning to the timing of the first beams of sunlight hitting their shut eyes. Kids getting up before parents. People going about their everyday lives. Listening to the further tracks White Sun and Black Sun I am questioning my mental health as I keep thinking about non-relative matters. I have self diagnosed myself with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) for this EP alone. Beautifully calming. Like Nine Inch Nails instrumentally without anger showing but subtly, the tones of which lay beneath. It’s like an inner monologue theme for the people watchers. It’s powerful soundtrack-of-your-life stuff.

Dexter Tortoriello is the man behind this delightful collection of pleasant noise. He has performed and released with his project Houses and is definitely a talented man to listen out for in future years. His project in Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross is another example of a different musical style which he can excel with also.

The people at Mad Decent records are giving away the track Blacks as a free official download. Just click the arrow button on the player below to receive. The Blow EP by Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross is out now.
