Time and time again theirs a track that doesn’t leave the DJ’s box and is played in almost every set. This is one of those House tunes.

Jason Charles Miller

ttj90

Straight away I am thinking this is a voice the ladies will adore. The Americana Blues stylie with a soulful yet throaty, vocal-embrace is warm, relaxing and reminiscent of the Crash Test Dummies, Axl Rose on Since I Don’t Have You and even a Jon Bon Jovi with a touch more depth similar to the more modern Newton Faulkner.

Jason Charles Miller has one of the best voices I’ve heard from any unsigned act. He’s a got a powerful gospel style voice, he’s a country man whom I can tolertae this time but usually I can not, so massive points awarded. I find his songs well written, well structured and well in sound. The strings attached on The Devil feat. Tina Guo on Cello sound brilliantly supporting.

Top stuff indeed. I expect to hear him sometime in the future but really, I’d expect him with a full band rather than being solo. He can master and orchestrate great songs so why not lead a band?

Venus In The Dust

ttj90

As anyone will know, if they peruse these pages regularly they will know of my slight fascination for French Electronica. So of course I jumped up at the sight of seeing Venus In The Dust despite no electronica being labelled.

We have mainly an acoustic style set up. Strings and piano’s peppered everywhere almost untidyly but neatly falling in the right places. These are supporting the darling singer who is seductively caressing the microphone with her lustful, saccharin vocals. Let Yourself Drown touches on that sultry dark side. Some tracks are soft, slow and the occasional ones more upbeat, in French and also, (being metaphorically descriptive) very “Sunday In The Park”. Reminiscent of Josh Weller doing the odd show tune.

This is Jazz club with out the bling and Soul without the tears being arousing, subtly passionate and in a positively, pleasant and complimentary way, also with a touch of filth. Easy listening and delightfully sexy stuff.

Noah and The Whale

ttj90

Be prepared to be moved.

We have sublime, delectable offerings this Autumn/Fall with The First days Of Spring from Noah & The Whale.

The first track off their latest release being the single of the album title is nothing short of a 6 minute 39 second symphony. Orchestrated wonderfully, sung divinely and so, so warm it is as sweet and an apricot dipped in gomme syrup.

The entire album is intelectual acoustic folk surrounded by strings, supported by the occassional choir and on a couple of tracks, no lyrics, just fantastic warming piano keys being tinkered for a short while. Nevertheless, they are lovely little numbers. For me, the track Blue Skies is exceptional, it is really, really good.

For a second album release this is quite an accomplishment and this is definately a global record that will certainly hit platinum status. It is easy listening, easy going and so easy to love.

But that is not all though. The group have even developed a short film too with the release of the music material. A glimpse of that is below and there is no doubt I’ll seeing that soon.

Masters Of Reality

ttj90

Masters Of Reality does sound like a bit of a cheesy name. Trying locate them on MySpace is not easy if you don’t know what you are looking for being as the name isn’t particularly original. Their music however, kind of is.

Achieving a slot in the Top 40 Rock Chart we have a band that have released various bits of material. Pine/Cross Dover their 5th album is soulful, rythymatic and produced very well. Collectively they are very experienced indeed. This is a mature band that are really good at putting together a record that has a mix of various sounds without it sounding like a mess. It is a touch psychedelic as well which makes it easy to listen to and easy is what I like at times, I don’t know about you.

There are tracks you can nod to, swing to and of course rock to. The tunes are tight though, very tightly done and there is no showing of which some guitarists tend to do and ruin a perfectly good track with their ego-showboating. None of that here. Just simply great harmonious strumming. Blissful, almost refreshing. VT In IT is a cracking example, Classic Rock. Dreamtime Stomp, also a brilliant little number.

This is an album that doesn’t blow my socks of whilst still being attached to my paraboots nor does it smash the internal hammer and anvil behind my lugholes. This is good, steady and solid, that is the reality of it and something they have mastered.

A track of their previous work. These boys are a very good group which I feel are seriously underfunded as well as rated.

Dilemn

ttj90

Since coming across the tracks Phyzicall, Check My Beat and Stopless early-ish last year I’ve been constantly searching and waiting for a collection of his work to be released rather than digital or vinyls singularly purchased. An album must soon be coming and I seriously can not wait for it any longer.

Dilemn is a Maestro at his craft which consists of filthy breaks, harmonious electro tweeks and some techy rumbles that make your heart beat and your lungs breathe for you.

The French producer has worked with some big names in the underground electronica section of the music industry and nothing he releases is far away from something special.

Forever experimenting the next track is always further risque from the previous.

ALL, yes once again, ALL tracks are on my Myspace page which you can get to; HERE!

Quite astonishing how this man makes you move in mysterious ways” – ttj90

Far Too Loud

ttj90

These boys are Far Too Loud, soon to be parting ways are the duo to do solo projects so Far Too Loud will still be existing which is fantastic news and Neurodriver is now born!

I love Far Too Loud! They have the sound that levitates you, picks you up and down a few shots of fresh air ready to take on the world. Inspiring, passionate and filthy! A sheer electronic delight.

Check out their tracks! Top ones for me are What’s Goin’ On, Play It Loud and the new All Is Machine record available from their MySpace site .

The XX

ttj90

When it comes to potential and acts for the future I seriously feel that The XX could very much be around for some time.

A four piece band with Oliver, Romy, Baria and Jamie, a collective of 19 year old’s producing their own work in the studio’s of XL records, signed under the Young Turks label under the same umbrella. They have not mastered, because they could be deemed as possibly sexist, but perfected a delightful, minimalistic album that is wonderfully airy with a soulful warmth.

I can’t help hearing similarities to the outstanding Damian Rice in the vocals so immediately I’m sold to it. With resemblances also to Portishead and perhaps the Wild Beasts too, this is subtley sexy record that has the ability to suit many moods and environments. A small party or gathering or on your own with a book and a cup of hot chocolate, it really doesn’t matter, this is very smart, well thought through and hasn’t been over-done.

This is one of those must-have albums for rainy or even the sunny days, but definately for a Sunday chill!

The band, The XX have their album “XX” out now, xx.

Meat Katie twisting about with his buddy Dylan Rhymes on this bouncy number that’s got a bigger hook than a Peter Pan story! This is brilliant, it genuinely made me “laugh out loud” with delight when this kicked in.

2hrsTEN

ttj90

Being rather generous I feel and bearing in mind that the work uploaded on 2hrsTEN’s MySpace player we have complete rawness, digitally unmanipulated, live material. It has potential.

There is a glow of warmth surrounding my speakers, a pleasant aura, a bittersweet atmosphere created by the harmonic voices these boys are projecting lovingly. Musically sweet and humble. Orchestral strings are missing everywhere and they would give it lift these guys require especially on Cup & Strings (obviously I suppose).

Studio time is a must for them and someone to guide them through it all. Next years Fleet Foxes if they continue to push.

Dead Leaf Echo

ttj90

Smashing Pumpkins. That’s who I can hear. Except, I can hear the singer a little bit better.

Dead Leaf Echo have some romanticism about them that make their sound very welcoming, attractive and quite endearing. Slightly psychedelic with a shoegaze essence, this new-wave, experimental band have produced some nice tight music, orchestrated lovely and transcendentally anthemic. Wonderfully uplifting, majestically passionate and just a delight.

Pale Fire is just a fine example, well worth checking out. Sweet poetry it is.

DJ MegaMax

ttj90

Trance in the late 90’s lifted us up to heights of stratospheric proportions and is still heard but I don’t believe as intensely as it once was. The same can be said for Hard-House. I mingled with both genres so finding someone who is balancing out the styles forming one, DJ MegaMax produces some exstatic, strong, psychedlic beats. Quite Robert-Miles-esque.

His player on MySpace has got some tunes that remind me of some deep, intensive Japenese tracks. Very, high energy ablazing with an arousing aura incensed with frenziness.

This is deep stuff, I like it.
