Now that @Far_Too_Loud has progressed away from his robotic Breakbeat beginnings and still moves forward towards a more Tech-Electro sound his work on ‘Dungeon’ combines elements of both. Having the aggressive industrious foundation that the Cyberpunkers have put down, Far Too Loud layers it up with some further progressive grooves and decepticon style effects and of course some glorious techy stabs and pounding, bass-drum kicks. It’s a party starter, builder and ender.

The ‘Epic’ remix by @TheSmaximal has such a warm intro which grows more fiercely as the tune builds up which then drops into a an abyss of course and abrasive hammering bass tones one side and provoking high punches. Very akin to the big-room style of Electro which fills arenas rather than small clubs. This needs room and space to bounce of the walls and ceiling so the acoustics can spread. Textured beatings and harmonious keys with some rocky guitar riffs make this a smartly balanced piece of chaotic material – the original version is in the video below.

‘Are You Ready’ has had two versions – technically four of course – and the first is the deep, dark and dirty duo from Milan, Belzebass. These guys are under the same umbrella as Cyberpunkers. Italian Electro Rockers who bring the noise with weight, audacity and euphoria deliver an industrial strength bombardment of vibrations. Clanging bass, wobbling effects and screams. My favourite.

The second remix has more of a rolling trance style beginning rather than booming yet it still has the echoes and the resonating chords that can fill stadiums and make your heart rate alter to the beat of the bass. The French producers have created another dancefloor destroyer but one that wavers to a style with more pretty mids than flesh-cutting bass.

Now the ‘Dungeon’ remix of @IllSaintM makes the FTL take appear hard as nails on the long and drawn out start but it grows with a choppier disco vibe. Rather than the tech route this French musician has ventured down the road to create a larger atmosphere for this record instead of a selfish stomper.

Perhaps falling within the moombahton bracket, this electro house with a dirty dutch tinge is a steady yet relentless stomper. A filthy echoing bass tone wavers between the deep and the piercing from the off and then a break shows us the calm before the storm as the hammering soon drops. ‘Concussion’ indeed and it soon ensues due to the screeching effects weaving in and out of the groovy, progressive mids. It’s just filth.

The ‘Universe’ EP comes with three originals and a remix of each that includes the artists AZA3L, Hypomaniacs and FeTOo. @FetOoOfficial has a bash at a remix of ‘Concussion’ which sees the dutch going but a rockier edge in it’s place with further distortion and industrious tweaks and bleeps.

You’d be a fool not to appreciate the core groove that sways and skanks your way through this boombastic release. The vibes and the energy is vibrant. The positivity is immense and the amount of smiles this track is likely to influence is uncountable. Influence is in fact an interesting word to use as well. This is a Dreadzone homage almost and everyone needs a bit of Dreadzone. Absolutely sheer class. Reggae rhythm, sunshine and soul in a Jungle-Breaks style. One of the best parts about this is the fact that the MC doesn’t kill the record as most do. He is more of a vocalist on this and his voice sounds like he was initially conceived for this very tune. This tune will stand the test of time.

The mids are reduced on this version remixed by @DJGoldUK but the bass is still dominantly present. The essential, original flavour is still within the track but with some additional drum ticks and flicks and the bassline booming we now have a dubbier dancehall skank-off happening with the DnB rinse…

..and it gets dubbier still. @HellfireMachina has deconstructed the original and rebuilt it with some Electro tweaks and bleeps. The extra dimension initially would have you think that the fundamental groove has been lost but that isn’t the case as the slight reduction in tempo alters the beat entirely. With the complimentary Dubstep stabs poking out every now and then the tune has some late-night dirtiness, a new pace and the raciness is taken up a notch on the Scoville scale.

Now add further meaty wubs, wahs and wobbles and we have the ‘Shut Up And Dance’ remix. The bounce is still there bustling away accept now we have some big beast dubstep happening. The lions are now roaring and the dirt has become filthier. It’s electric and carries enough bass to batter dancefloor foundations.

It’s such a refreshing release with sunshine and a touch of darkness at the end. With the Reggae vibes, the Jungle beat and the overall level of class along with the encouraging vocals, it feels like Summer has arrived.

The ‘Warrior Sound’ EP by King Yoof featuring Jah Mirikle is out now on Trackitdown exclusively and everywhere else that matters on May 4th 2012, released by Sub Slayers.

When you listen to this tune drop for the first time, you can understand immediately why there appears to be so much hype surrounding this release. The first track off the EP ‘Below Us’ which features the dreamy vocals from @ShazSparks begins in a way that it causes great curiosity. It is soft and sweet only for a few moments as the trance elements come in and then soon disappear as the phenomenal bass drops in like a thunder clap booming above your head. The tune positively rattles your mind and you can feel the contortion occurring on your face as it moves forward. This combination of superbly produced trance and dubstep is on a different level and far above most of the work which is out now and soon to be released.

Pounding mids and a vibrant groove are in place along with the dreamscape vibe that still hovers over the fundamental trance injection, but instead it is weaved amongst a more frantic drum track. Ever-so-slightly the reduced bass effects that continue to carry weight carry less awe, but instead of standing there in shock and amazement like what you are likely to do on the original, you are much more expected to be shaking your backside and nodding your head to this upbeat bouncer from DnB producer of golden moments, Smooth.

Also with an extended DJ edit - which I’ll refer to - this big room monster fuses together dubby bass tones along with some electro that not only delightfully flows but has such a cleanliness in sound even the gritty parts are of a wondrous beauty. The Oakenfold brigade can warm to this as it ticks all of their boxes at the start as we hear it rise and warm our hearts but when the pianos fade and the drums worm they way through the broken beat foundations come out to play. We are then moving up to a more astringent level. Abrasive mids and bass pummel away in balance along with the once again, soft and sweet vocal talents of Shaz Sparks. Swaying, swaggering, moshing and dancing like life doesn’t get any better is the feel you get with this accumulation of sounds and effects.

Now I didn’t think this EP could get any better to be honest and I am wrong. This is just amazing. The euphonic riff that drives us off on the start is so simple, so enchanting, it is a hook and a half because I’m locked in. The sonorous, funky wave that carries you is then greeted by what appears to be sheer, satanic evil. The bombarding bass tones are akin to those heard in a Hollywood movie featuring robotic extraterrestrials, but then they veer away and we are left with otherworldly trance. This dubstep tune rolls out the nice, then the bad pleasantly disturbs and we flow back again to be then greeted by an eclectic fusion of everything we have heard before it an electronic amalgamation of beats and grooves. This, is, the BOMB!

Severe elated dubstep on this bad boy with sitars, relentless bass stabs and euphoric vibes a plenty. I’m not going to say anymore on this. The ‘Polarize EP’ by Seven Lions ft Shaz Sparks is out now released by Viper Recordings.

By mixing up the delightful sunshine vibes by adding some dirty, raucous vibrancy we have a bit of a well-calculated mash-up of sounds making this a fun, bouncy and filthy piece of material.

This is the official video and quite a weird one too, but that seems to be the Skrillex standard. The girl is bleeding from her ears because she needs a pair? of headphones to keep her alive, so she searches for a set. As headphone-wearing people from the town realise she is without music they run in fear of having their headphones taken – apparently.

This is the track taken from the ‘Lick It EP’ which features remixes from Datsik, Alex Kenji and Norman Doray. It is out now released by Ultra Records.

The EP is like a journey and as we begin with ‘Ascend’ which starts us off with some classic hands-in-the-air riffs and chords very politely and charmingly, that soon changes. The progression climbs up with a tinge of adolescent euphoria and then a small break which then brings in the drop that comes with some very interesting tones and effects. The contrasting bleeps and bass brings a lovely level of balance so we end up with a fusion of old skool dance music mashed up with post-modern roars and growls with a dirty groove and seductive flow of sound - there is also a Club Edit version of this as well.

Now the track ‘Triune’ begins in a similar fashion but with a touch more pace from the intro and a marching pattern creating an idea that this is going to be a stomper. As the 8 bit effects give us the core beat of the track, we grow slightly progressively into a break which delivers the most infectious of foot-tappers and then the filthiest of drilling mids are unleashed. There’s not so much of a vibrant bounce to this tune but more of a steady naughty strut with it’s wavering and punchy bass tones. This track has been dropped by Far Too Loud so that gives you an idea into the heaviness.

Now this tune is just wrong. It is set at a good speed, has a ridiculous level of depth and immediately you get this vibe that you’re parents will not appreciate the effort that has gone into this. The rumbling groove of ‘Grubshuck’ is immense and it explodes into an offensive glitching barrage of bass. This is Tech-Funk breaking bad. I love this. Very Dylan Rhymes.

A French Electro style of build up on this euphoric intro and with the sound of distorted guitars giving us the mid-riff subtly in the background, the sweet twinkling of the plastic ivories hovering over the top soon give us a chanting moment as we prepare for the incoming bassline dropping upon us after the spoken words, “That name is the ‘Gunt’”. It is almost offensive and definitely not for vegetarians due to the amount of dubby meat within this record all chopped up and served cold.

The final track ‘Rorque’ has what appears to be a stuttering start which comes across as being an unorganised mess soon comes into a composed order and the frenetic dancefloor chaos can really begin. Having support from Access Denied because of the big-room aura it possesses and the pounding, glitching bassline grunts he is so akin too, makes this particular tune an electric one.

The EP has a full mix of flavours. It contains sounds which we seem to have lost and forgotten about that have been rejuvenated and refreshed thanks to the new levels of effects and patches. This debut release shows a great deal of production wizardry and a damn good ear for electronic naughtiness.

The ‘Heads In’ EP by Your Ol’ Lady is out now released by Dga Fau Records.

This is for me the best track from the EP because of the aggressiveness and the sheer audacity within it. It is thanks to @Monolith4ever who has reproduced the tune in his own flavour. This was a peaktime belter but now it is a peaktime mayhem bringer, and I adore it. You begin to think of sweetness and kindness when the tune first rolls out a couple of bars but then the darkness falls in the form of a big room aura with the resonating distortion of the mids piercing your ears after the delightful keyboard riff puts us into a false sense of bliss. The tune then builds with the kick drum starting to become firmer and then the drop comes down, crashing into the ground and hell has then been opened and demons are then unleashed onto the Earth.

Perhaps a slight over-exaggeration but I would assume you get the jist of where I’m coming from after a listen or two. If you appreciate the work of Cyberpunkers, The Bloody Beetroots, Access Denied or The Boomzers then this may be right up your street.

A massive tune and full of support from those Electro producers who like to dish out some serious chaos and I love it.

And yes, I have double checked and I have spelt ‘Leackage’ correctly according to the artist, it is the artwork creator who receives the ‘#EpicFail’, but I can not blame them though.

A right growler of a tune is this DnB number by Villem. As the wavering roars of the abrasive bassline weaves in and weaves out of the fast paced, groovy and funky drum track that pounds away driving the tune, it is bouncy and vibrant but sits firmly in the realms of the dark side.

The spooky tension mounts when this track begins and dark aura then shrouds you. The punchy bass penetrates your chest and the heaviness keeps you dancing low, deep and sinisterly with this great haunting vibe encompassing your soul as you dance. Deep echoing mids add spirit to the DnB tune as some vocal samples warble or rather ‘The Chant’ over the groove adds a further depth to this already deep, rolling rumbler.

With a title such as ‘Headbanger’ you expect it to live up to the name and I think this DnB or techy drumstep piece of filth certainly does. The industrious, cybernetic style dubby bass tones make the tune sound like a Decepticon mosh-pit as the track growls away at a marching 175bpm. The drum track is firm and stringent which occasionally explodes into a bashing attack of the snare, cymbals and high-hats. It is an angry monster more so for the Metalheadz crew and not for the fairies at all.

No wonder Goldie rates him.
