Time To Dance by Tricky | The Original, Doorly’s Italo, Fifi Rong & Maya Jane Coles Remixes | Single Review

The original track itself is an ambient electro number similar to the work of The xx with a bass that has tantalizing funk, a seductive vocal track and is very hypnotic.
Following the album release of Mixed Race in September 2010, legendary trip-hop magician Tricky is venting out the single Time To Dance from the album shrouded in variations this July.
The original track itself is an ambient electro number similar to the work of The xx with a bass that has tantalizing funk, a seductive vocal track and is very hypnotic.
Doorly’s Italo Remix has progressive trance effects, a stronger kick drum and an incredibly warm orchestration added that wouldn’t go a miss in a Freemasons set. It’s freakin’ lush and I think I’m in love with this record.
The third remix is a bit of a surprise when it begins because it shifts to a different level from what we’ve heard already. Fifi Rong who is signed to Tricky’s Brown Punk Label puts more emphasis onto the vocals making them crispier along with additional bongos and xylophones to give it a certain latino flavour. The extra sub-bass fills the overall sound out sweetly making the track rather infectious.
The last remix is produced by a lady who is coming up through ranks, out of the underground and into the mainstream thanks to her acute sense to sound. Maya Jane Coles who has produced an ambient remix with everything that the original has but uplifted further. An more prominent guitar riff is entwined throughout the track, the pace is ever-so-slightly accelerated and the anthemic echos add ambience.
This release here will awaken those who thought that Tricky was no more and will introduce some new talent along with some startling remixes. The support for this record alone from the superstar DJ’s of this land has been worth applauding and I’m looking forward to hearing this in the dance tents over the coming weeks.
To be straightforward and blunt, this number here, in a word, is “Awesome”.
Time To Dance by Tricky and delightful the remixes will be released on July 18th 2011 from Domino Records.
