Street Halo by Burial | EP Review

The incredible mystery that surrounds Burial to me is astonishing. Nowhere on many of the social networks is he to be found. Hardly a picture. Hardly any knowledge of whereabouts and today I’ve found his latest release has come out. But only and I mean only through Hyperdub Records – his labels website and only for two weeks.
Burial aka Will Bevan released his self-titled and ‘Untrue’ albums with critical acclaim and outstanding success. The drum and bass, 2-step and ambient works are the most beautiful, authentic and incredible pieces of material probably ever released in these genres. I will dare to say that any music producer has the utmost respect for these heartfelt works which are captivating to say the least.
His tracks Archangel and Forgive are probably in the collections of the most highly regarded DJ’s and producers across this entire land. If they are not, then shame on them.
His latest EP shows material which is very him. very similar, almost the same and monotonous but till unique and individual. There is no work like this. The signature vinyl crackling effects are still here. The warmth that surrounds the work still exists. The sweet vocal hummings that assist the delightful beats are very akin to Bevan’s work.
Out of all of the releases that I’ve heard over the last fortnight, nothing will get the attention they so deserve because of these very simply sounding, very intricately produced three tracks.
The Street Halo EP by Burial is out now released by Hyperdub Records.
