O.M.G.! by Rusko | Album Review

I haven’t got around to doing a piece on Rusko which is an epic fail on my part because this guy is just so out there it’s almost untrue. His debut album sounds so simple to some but the depth, the intricacy, shows a true skill.
His way of working is just bizarre with an electro-punk trait amalgamated with dubstep filth along with the essence of the Old Skool Rave and 80′s synth. one or two of the numbers have a tweak of Hip-Hop but every DJ/producers encompasses a bounce within a track or two nowadays and most of the time – as in this time – it sounds pretty damn good.
Rather than the madness and basic tones that this genre began with he has been smart with accompanying the bass with riffs and the vocals on some tracks with a talkbox which Chromeo are fond of using. The mandatory beat is more of a 2-step pace so it’s not as frantic as a rule, but some clubheads could make it that way if they wished. Mad Decent Records – the label I believe he is signed with – seems quite an apt name to match his style.
From the streets of the UK this man is now touring the clubs of America at present and I’m confident that he will be appreciated on both sides of the shore.
