For saying that this release has taken me back over a decade I can not say that the sound is old or outdated because one unwritten fact remains, and that is the fact that trance will never die. Beatman and Ludmilla are keeping it alive with their influx of breaks within the foundation of the tune and I for one, love it.
After listening to this tune I have had a flashback of the days when my friends and I regularly haunted one of the most popular superclubs in the UK. The evening was ‘Passion’ and the club was The Emporium. There was the red funky, tech house room and there was the blue, big-beat trance room. This latest release took me straight back into the ‘Blue Room’ where we had DJ’s like Tall Paul, John 00 Fleming, Judge Jules and the legend that is Paul Oakenfold, chucking out thunderous beats with delightful harmonic vocal tunes that shook us to the very core and uplifted our spirits greatly. This was trance at it’s finest.
Just lately with Beatman and Ludmilla veering off the solid breakbeat route with remixes for Perfecto Records and Paul Oakenfold himself, it seems that some of the ‘Blue Room’ magic has rubbed off on them with their latest release ‘New Day’ featuring Norweigan electronica vocalist @katehavnevik.
As we begin ‘New Day’ glides in with soft, angelic piano trickles, then a bass booms grabbing your attention, the drum track starts off slowly, warming us up and then the beat doubles up and the tune kicks into gear. It is a subtle hybrid mix of the trance and breakbeat genres. With the prominent broken drum track beat supporting the echoing synths that hover above it and the bass drum controlling your heart rate, it hooks you in. The “seasonal” vocals are sweet and strong that weave within the tune and overall it sounds delightful – I say seasonal as in; New day, new year.

Now, where’s my chewing gum?
