Kill Kill Remixes by WAT | EP Review

Electro-punk-rockers WAT released their album Wonder a little bit of time ago and now the single Kill Kill has been unbound and will be tearing up the radio waves on your more “specialist” DJ shows in different guises.
If you like your French electro which most of my readers and subscribers are aware of that I do, then this here is a pearler.
The track is out as an EP with remixes from the creme de la creme of European clublands with versions from Gooseflesh, Dilemn, Beat Torrent and Costello – below.
With the original album track, Kill Kill is lyrically hip-hop fused with funky disco-house. The Gooseflesh mix has more electronic glitches giving it breakbeat feel with a sterner drum track. His Extended mix is also included which progresses with greater teasing. The Beat Torrent mix is slowed down, slightly flatter and also a touch more sultry. Costello‘s mix – below – goes the other way. The tempo is increased and a couple of piercing notes give the track a Dutch house flavour. Maybe if it was a little slower then we would have a new moombahton track? The legend that is Dilemn brings to the table exactly what you would expect. Funkier bass that sends out the spinal chills. I love it.
One sterling track with all of these variations just goes to show that one song can become so much more. I’ll upload the missing remixes if and when they become available but until then, The Kill Kill Remixes EP by WAT is released by Boxon Records and is out on June 13th 2011.
