Forget Yourself / Wiyoo by Ronika | EP Review

You just can’t ignore the fact that the 80′s were great for music. The insurgence of synthesisers taking over from generic musicians after the mass movement of disco in the late 70′s, it was then when music changed and is a prominent part of dance music history. With the likes of Chromeo injecting their saucy disco-punk nowadays, La Roux dabbling with the same it’s good that the taste and flavour of this era is living on. It appears that it still is within new artist, Ronika.
On this second EP release of Ronika’s we have Forget Yourself. A combination of early provocative Madonna and a smattering of French electro similar to the awesome Vitalic with sassy, alluring vocals. Wiyoo takes you straight back into the midst of the partying times of Studio 54, New York with infectious, sizzling discotheque and aphrodisiacal electronica.
These two tracks are far more impressive to me than a majority of female acts around today. However, that is not yet all. Being privy to the entire release I must stress to you that the Mirrorzisland and Kirk Spencer remixes are also rather contagious with their additional little tweaks but if there is one track on here that is utter sublime it would have to be Ronika’s Own You Remix of Wiyoo. The dirty electro bassline as well as the beguiling Kylie-esque vocals could indeed ignite or electrify any night club for years to come. It genuinely has that effect.
I very much hope that this falls into the laps of the right people and gets noticed. If talent like this goes and passes us by then we are going to be missing out on something quite special.
The Forget Yourself/Wiyoo EP by Ronika is released by RecordShop, the music arm of Shop currently used to release and promote the work of Ronika and is out on June 13th 2011.

I genuinely believe that this Lady is far better than a majority of female acts in the charts at this current time.
