From Budapest, Ego Shot Recordings the digital sub-label of Morphosis Records have yet another release out and this time it comes from German techno lover @Bosonmusic who grew up on breakbeats and wishes to keep these genres together, fusing them with his production know-how.

The original version of ‘Blackout’ is a deep, dark and industrious release which rolls along in a solid fashion with a few teasing clicks and bleeps piercing through the abrasive beats with the occasional female vocal sample injecting the word “bitch” every now and then. A sultry and moody number which make a great start to many a manic set.

Spanish producer Deenk drops by with a remix and on his take the additional funk element takes the original up a notch. The added wubs and wahs make this version a little bouncier and meatier similar to the work of Access Denied which is usually electronic exuberance of the greatest, electro-breaks filth.

Label boss Retroid makes the alterations on this positively progressive remix and implants the psychedelic hook which captivates and invigorates you with the acidic tones that bash and weave throughout the track.

The last remix on the release by Geon seems to follow Boson’s love for Techno music as this has less of the battering mids and is instead introduced to vibrations that are more sinister, glitchier and with tweaks and bleeps aplenty. Creepy bass tones sneak in and out and then move out of the way for subtle trance wooshes building up to the drops that make way for tech heaven. My only grievance is the driving filthy mids that kick in a little too close to the end of the track. I thought it was a shame not to hear more of those effects earlier in the tune.

For a breaks release this covers a few bases within the genre due to the subtle differences in styles from the remixing producers. Techy, psychedlic, dark and industrious. A marvellous composition.
