Friday 03 February, 2012

Missile Remixes EP by WAT [Electro Techno Rock] EXCLUSIVE

Rebellious, indie dance music with cynical passion and plenty of grunge with discotheque influences, rock n roll and a ton of groove and harmonious racket. The Missile Remixes EP by the former We Are Terrorists – WAT – spans genres in a way that can only be done by Boxon Records.

Korn - The Path Of Totality - Roadrunner Records - thetruejoe90.com

The Path Of Totality by Korn [Rock Metal Dubstep]

Nu-Metal pioneers Korn take their bass levels down that little bit further once again with the aid of additional electronica and the production skills of some of the hottest names in EDM today. You could say that Korn have dubbed it down but I think that “they’ve still got it”.

Toxicity - Subsource - Free Download - thetruejoe90.com

Toxicity by System Of A Down The Subsource Resmashed Remix | Free Download

This is a series of tunes that mimics what Skrillex and Kill The Noise have only just started doing with Korn whilst @subsource have been doing this for almost 5 years crossing many countries in the process.

Narcissistic Cannibal - Korn - Skrillex - Kill The Noise - thetruejoe90.com

Narcissistic Cannibal by Korn ft Skrillex & Kill The Noise | Single Review | Free Download

It’s not overly done and instead of a guitar solo we’ve got some juddering wobbles and grimey effects. The drumming is impressive and yes, it’s affected by the production but it really does sound quite fat indeed.

Days Are Forgotten - Kasabian - thetruejoe90.com
Saturday 10 September, 2011

Days Are Forgotten by Kasabian | Single Review | Official Music Video

The track itself has a lot of energy as we would all expect. Vocals that sound like they are coming from a public speaker and then harmoniously into the chorus. Drumming that resembles a tribal march. Deep, supporting bass and guitars that are quite simply Serge signature, funky rock with soul.

Introducing | Modern Faces

The day was a touch gloomy, clouds all over the place and then when the first couple of bars at the start of their set which stopped a few people in their tracks whilst wading through the potentially muddy surroundings. Immediately, they managed to captivate the audience.

Homeward At Daybreak by Big Mosey | thetruejoe90.com

Homeward At Daybreak by Big Mosey | EP Review

Conceived in Brooklyn, New York, this pairing of “delirious and victorious” alternative rockers have a vibe which I feel is best matched to Stiltskin, singers of the ’94 Levi’s Jeans commercial with their one hit wonder ‘Inside’. With Big Mosey having influences like Pearl Jam, The Black Keys and Kings Of Leon, we already have an idea of what their musical sound resembles.

Pineapple Girl by Mister Heavenly | Single Review | Official Free Download

This tune in particular ‘Pineapple Girl’ resembles The Black Keys but more rockier and in places Frightened Rabbit but not as soft and also British bands such as The Fratellis. All in all, indie rock that is jovial and sweet in nature.

Wish Upon A Blackstar – Chapters 1 – 4 of 5 by Celldweller | EP Review

There are bands that do this type of work. The Prodigy dabble with some rock in parts of their work. Pendulum more famously for combining the genres. A personal favourite of mine being Subsource who manage the crossover incredibly well. Like Reznor, this is one man.

Taking Back Sunday by Taking Back Sunday | Album Review

Over time the band has had members come, members go and even members that have gone and come back again. Only one band member has been part of the band since day nought.

Listening to the latest album, their fifth studio release which has been self-titled as Taking Back Sunday, it is full of wondrous, glorious, foaming-at-the-mouth, 21st century rock n roll.

The Future Is Medieval by Kaiser Chiefs | thetruejoe90.com

The Future Is Medieval by Kaiser Chiefs | Album Review | Official Music Video

Now they’ve gone through to their 4th LP after a gap of almost 3 years they appear to be back refreshed, revitalised and very much full of new material. 20 new tracks fill up the digital release so they have definitely been stock piling their work.

Suck It And See by Arctic Monkeys | thetruejoe90.com

Suck It And See by Arctic Monkeys | Album Review

This being their fourth band release – whilst under other guises and side projects others have been unleashed – here we have a more mature and subtle sound than previous works. They have already been out and about and impressed many in the press, media and fans. Here it seems that they are simply making music that they currently enjoy creating and performing. Still stylishly sensitive. Still executed with an elegant swagger. Still lyrically cultured. Still Arctic Monkeys.

Everybody Wah by Bosco Delrey | Album Review

Having the sound of psychedelic, blues, rock and roll in your MP3 player nowadays is something quite rare when it once used to be peppered around on many a vinyl player circa 1965 when James Douglas “Jim” Morrison and The Doors first formed.

Mona by Mona | Album Review | Official Music Video

I like hearing bands that sound like other bands, but better. Having that little bit more off something whether it be an ecstatic drum beat, a funkier bass, a more frantic guitar riff laden record or more powerful vocal strength.

Go Now And Live by We Are The Ocean | thetruejoe90.com

Go Now And Live by We Are The Ocean | Album Review

I find that when you talk to people on the phone, you can tell whether they are smiling or not. It makes a massive difference to people who are working in sales. Having a positive demeanour is paramount. It increases sales. When listening to the new album by We Are The Ocean, the energy they emit shows that they enjoy what they are doing so they’ve sold the album to me.

Good For Nothing by Hard-Fi | thetruejoe90.com
Tuesday 03 May, 2011

Good For Nothing by Hard-Fi | Single Review

With a touch of northern soul on the intro and the weaving feel of the madchester scene of time gone by this indie band who many of us thought we now gone, Hard-Fi are on the return with a new album, a fresh sound and new focus.

Euphoric Heartbreak by Glasvegas | Album Review

Glasgow, Scotland is not a depressing place. It is a beautiful city full of culture but like many cities across all of the lands, there are some areas which can be deemed as a wee bit miserable. A little sad. Depressing maybe. But true Scotsmen will not get down about it. Shrug, deal with it and carry on regardless.

Wasting Light by Foo Fighters | Album Review

Are these guys not one of the biggest rock bands in the world? Arguably they are the biggest but looking at the attention the Foo Fighters get for the smallest release is something only unsigned bands can dream off.

The End by Hyper | thetruejoe90.com

The End by Hyper | The Beatman & Ludmilla Remix | Single Review

Make no mistake, I’m a bit of a rocker. I grew up on Metallica, Faith No More, Pantera, all that kind of jazz. So I’m fond of a heavy guitar riff. Hyper‘s latest dance release mixed up with Beatman & Ludmilla‘s dub-steppy breakbeats remix very much has classic metal guitar riffs.

Dust Bowl by Joe Bonamassa | thetruejoe90.com
Wednesday 23 March, 2011

Dust Bowl by Joe Bonamassa | Album Review

I can’t believe that Joe Bonamassa has released yet another album. After the storming success of his last album Black Rock which reached number one on the Billboard charts, I’m sure this one will do the same.

Brick By Brick by Arctic Monkeys | Single Review

Without warning, heads up or just not telling anyone, Arctic Monkeys have let out a new track just simply by uploading it onto the net and pasting their website address across the social media formats that they are connected with. Subtle.
